Torabhaig Allt Gleann The Legacy Series

Founded in 2017, Torabhaig is only the second distillery on the Isle of Skye, alongside the famous Talisker distillery. Built by the independent bottler Mossburn, it produces peaty single malt whiskies. Since 2021, small batches have been released as part of the Legacy Series. The Allt Gleann Legacy Series is only the second of these bottlings. Torabhaig demonstrates its integrity here: no filtration, no coloring, and a wonderful 46% ABV.

Tasting

Nose

On the nose, it becomes clear what it's all about: the smoke profile takes center stage. Refined sugar and vanilla from the bourbon casks form the foundation. Barbecue bacon is ever-present. The smoke presents itself mineral-maritime, almost asphalt-like. We think of a rocky pebble beach.

Palate

On the palate, the peat fire is also in the foreground. A smoldering campfire surrounded by sugary sweetness and a hint of malt. Here, the maritime flavors of seaweed and sea salt become slightly more prominent. There's also a certain vegetable-like quality that we would describe as white beans and parsnips.

Finish

On the finish, Torabhaig is long, dry, and powerfully salty. The central theme of smoke, ash, coast, and sea continues. In the finish, there's a hint of oak - like a barrel of pickles.

Verdicts

Marcel

Torabhaig Allt Gleann captivates with its smoky character and maritime notes that are genuinely enjoyable. Despite its youth, the whisky feels surprisingly rounded and invites relaxed evenings by the fireplace. A promising representative from the Isle of Skye that leaves you wanting more!

Sascha

With a clearly defined smoke profile and a well-balanced coastal maturation, Torabhaig Allt Gleann demonstrates an impressive harmony between mineral freshness and sweet bourbon notes. The structure feels mature and harmonious despite the lack of an age statement, with maritime saltiness shaping the finish. A technically convincing single malt with great potential for development.

What it is worth

We do not yet hold bottle-level auction results — that sits behind Whisky Hunter’s authenticated feed. What follows is the market for Torabhaig as a whole, which sets the weather for this bottling without pricing it.
