Tasting notes·Talisker

Talisker 10 Years

Everyone knows it or has at least seen it in the spirits section of a well-stocked supermarket. As part of the Classic Malts Selection, it becomes even more interesting when viewed in the context of the full lineup. Regular offers invite you to buy the Talisker 10 and we like to buy it and contribute to it being the best-selling whisky of the Talisker distillery. On the bottle in the new design, the Isle of Skye off the west coast of Scotland can be found in overdramatic images. The look runs like a red leitmotif through the other bottlings of the distillery, such as the magnificent Talisker 18 Years.

Tasting

Nose

What do you expect with the rugged coastline of the Isle of Sky? Exactly - salt, seawater, rough seas. The sea air is accompanied by light cold smoke and iodine. Pleasant citrus aromas and an underlying fruitiness - we're thinking pear - round off the profile of this classic.

Palate

"It's kind of everything," says Marcel. There is no lack of different impressions in the taste. There are malty-sweet and vanilla aromas, as well as salty and peppery-sharp moments. We also recognise the pear from the nose. Leathery hints and accompanying peat smoke are also present.

Finish

Spicy, peppery and with a tart saltiness, the 10-years Scotch does not burn unpleasantly on the palate. We think here of the fiery burn of a chilli.

Verdicts

Marcel

A true all-rounder with character that’s fun to drink while remaining surprisingly complex. At under 30 euros, it’s an absolute recommendation that enriches any home bar – Talisker 10 is simply a pleasure with a rugged soul and a touch of humor in the finish.

Sascha

The Talisker 10 impresses with its balanced harmony of smoky spice, salty freshness, and a subtle fruity note. Technically precise, with a clear structure and a long-lasting, peppery finish, it offers excellent value for money in the maritime single malt category.

What it is worth

We do not yet hold bottle-level auction results — that sits behind Whisky Hunter’s authenticated feed. What follows is the market for Talisker as a whole, which sets the weather for this bottling without pricing it.
