Tasting

Nose

Solvent dominates - clearly, the lion's share matured in bourbon barrels. Behind that, there are slight wooden aromas. After a good half hour in the glass, the fruity, citrusy and wine-like notes are released. We smell sultanas and dates, citrus, pineapple and pear.

Palate

The initial taste is "hella sweet". The taste is clearly dominated by fresh fruity pear. With its 55.3% ABV, a few drops of water do no harm at all. The pear, apple and light fruits are more clearly defined. New notes that make us think of vanilla ice cream with strawberries and cherry also shine out. The composition is accompanied by a subtle woody spiciness.

Finish

The Signature Edition lingers slightly dry on the palate and leaves a strawberry note.

Verdicts

Marcel

This St. Kilian Signature Edition Nine is a genuine flavor powerhouse that, despite its young age of just 3 years, impresses with plenty of character and sweet fruitiness. The combination of pear, vanilla ice cream, and a subtle hint of strawberry makes the drinking experience both exciting and enjoyable – although the price is a bit steep.

Sascha

The Signature Edition Nine demonstrates an impressively mature balance for a young German single malt, with clearly defined fruit aromas and a structured wood note. Nevertheless, the price feels somewhat ambitious in relation to the cask maturation, which slightly clouds the overall rating.
