Slipknot No.9 Whiskey

Often, the celebrities who give their names to spirits have nothing to do with it - this is not the case here. The drummer Shawn Crahan has blended the two varieties No. 9 and No. 9 Reserve. We have the No. 9 in the tasting.No. 9 was developed in collaboration with the Cedar Ridge distillery in Iowa and has become the distillery's best-seller nationwide. Cedar Ridge uses locally grown Iowa corn (51%) for their whiskeys, plus 35% malted rye and 14% malted barley.

Tasting

Nose

The bourbon opens with a pleasant intense and vanilla-like oak aroma. Notes of cinnamon, butter and nut follow. We can't help but think of French rolls.

Palate

The bourbon also delivers on the taste what the nose promises. The intense and spicy taste of American oak paired with vanilla aromas is the dominant note. The voluminous and creamy mouthfeel is precisely elaborated by a hint of citrus and with fruity blood orange.

Finish

The medium-long finish is creamy and slightly spicy.

Verdicts

Marcel

Slipknot No.9 is a genuine surprise that proves well-known names aren’t always just marketing hype. Light, sweet, and with a touch of spice – this whiskey is simply fun and brings variety to the tasting circle. For fans of straightforward, American bourbon, it’s a clear delight.

Sascha

The balance between fruity blood orange, vanilla, and spicy American oak in Slipknot No.9 is well achieved, making it a convincing representative of the bourbon category. The creamy texture and medium-length finish provide structure, even though it still lacks a bit of depth and complexity. Overall, it’s a well-balanced whiskey with solid craftsmanship from Iowa.

What it is worth
