Tasting

Nose

The Laphroaig Brodir Final Batch has a complex and layered aroma, with Laphroaig's characteristic phenolic and smoky notes present from the first moment. There is also a slight saltiness, followed by fruit and citrus notes, as well as hints of plums and custard. The aroma is also spicy, with hints of churros and cinnamon sugar.

Palate

On the palate, the single malt is bold and full-bodied, with dominant seaweed and iodine notes and a seabed feel. Added to this are flavours of dark fruits, including intense plums and berries, as well as a pleasant and rich smoke. The profile is also rounded off by a spicy honey sweetness.

Finish

The finish of the Brodir is expectedly long and smoky, with a lingering fruity sweetness.

Verdicts

Marcel

A true Islay powerhouse bursting with character and a wonderful blend of smoke, spice, and fruity sweetness – simply a delight for anyone who appreciates the classic Laphroaig style. If you manage to snag a bottle at a fair price, don’t hesitate, as these limited editions sell out quickly!

Sascha

The Laphroaig Brodir Final Batch impresses with its balanced structure and the harmonious interplay of smoke, maritime notes, and fruity accents. Despite its complexity, the finish feels somewhat one-dimensional, yet it remains a successful interpretation of the peaty Islay profile in a limited release.
