Kinahan's Irish Whiskey KASC Project Batch 03

Whisky production as an experiment - that's something you have to dare to do. The KASC Project uses handmade hybrid casks. Let's take a look at what that means.Think of a hybrid cask as a newly assembled cask made from the staves of various other casks. Five casks of different origins are used: Portuguese oak, American oak, French oak, Hungarian oak and chestnut. This allows for unique flavours to emerge. At Kinahans, they write about it: So - if you are not ready to leave your comfort zone, the hybrid barrel whiskey releases are simply not for you.

Tasting

Nose

Fruity! We have strong aromas of caramelised fruits, such as pear and apricot on the nose. Some fig and wood notes can be perceived subliminally.

Palate

It tastes like it smells. Besides the apricot, we also have the taste of ripe mango and a little more in the foreground an intense oak aroma. In the background we taste fine nuts. Pecans.

Finish

In the finish, the fruitiness disappears and is replaced by a sharp peppery spiciness. A little oak resonates.

Verdicts

Marcel

A bold experiment that’s a lot of fun and leaves you wanting more from the KASC Project. The fruity character, with its peppery spice, delivers genuine drinking pleasure—perfect for relaxed summer evenings. Definitely an exciting release for fans of new taste experiences.

Sascha

The KASC Project Batch 03 impresses with an unusual cask composition that gives the whisky a complex structure. Despite the experimental cask blend, the whisky feels well balanced, with clearly defined oak spice and a pronounced fruit note. For lovers of innovative Irish whiskeys, this release offers a solid foundation for what’s to come.

What it is worth

No auction record for this distillery, so we cannot tell you what this bottle is worth. We would rather say that than guess.
