GlenAllachie 9 Years Fino Sherry Cask Finish - The Wood Collection

In the limited Wood Collection, GlenAllachie showcases the effect that different types of sherry can have on whisky maturation. They transferred their Single Malt, aged for 6.5 years in ex-bourbon casks, into casks previously filled with different sherries: Fino, Amontillado, and Oloroso. After a total maturation period of 9 years, all three variants were bottled at 48%, without coloring or chill filtration. On invitation from Kirsch Import and Billy Walker himself, we had the pleasure of comparing these three bottlings side by side, focusing on how cask management and selection influence the aroma.

Verdicts

Marcel

This GlenAllachie 9 Year Fino Sherry Cask Finish brings a real summer hit to the glass with its lively freshness and sweet aromas – creamy, dry, and with a touch of humor in the flavor. If you’re looking for an uncomplicated yet characterful whisky that gladly invites you back for a second sip, this is absolutely the one.

Sascha

The GlenAllachie 9 Year Fino Sherry Cask Finish impresses with its balanced interplay of dryness, maltiness, and delicate fruit notes, precisely reflecting the cask management with Fino sherry. Despite its pleasant creaminess, the whisky remains structurally clear and well-proportioned, though it doesn’t surprise with great depth.

What it is worth

We do not yet hold bottle-level auction results — that sits behind Whisky Hunter’s authenticated feed. What follows is the market for Glenallachie as a whole, which sets the weather for this bottling without pricing it.
